On Tuesday 30th May our Prep - Grade 3 students participated in an engaging pasta making incursion with Jill Tascone from Bigpocket Educational Incursions.  The students were taken on a journey where they developed an understanding of the history and tradition of making pasta. This was followed by a hands on session where they all made their very own tagliatelle.  Everyone is looking forward to going home and cooking the pasta with their family.

The age old recipe for the pasta is:

200 gms 00 Pasta Flour

2 eggs

2 T  water

1  Place flour in a mound on a clean surface. Make a well in the centre. Add eggs. Gently whisk with a fork, using your other hand to secure the walls. Draw in the flour as you go.

2.  Bring the dough together. If the dough is dry, use water to moisten. Knead for 5 minutes or until elastic and smooth. Sprinkle the dough with flour, wrap in plastic wrap and set aside for 30 minutes to rest.

To cook, choose a large saucepan, salt the water and bring to the boil.

Add the pasta and cook for 3-4 minutes.

Serve with a pasta sauce of your own choice and serve with freshly grated parmesan cheese.
